7 Things Happy People Don't Do

Happy people are happy not because they have a better life than you or I, but because there are some things they just don't do.

Maybe they realized that these things bring them misery so they stopped doing them, or they got lucky - either way, if you avoid doing these seven things, you will be a happier person.

Here are the 7 Things Happy People Don't Do.

1. They don't complain all the time.

What you think about, you invite into to your life.

When you complain all of the time, you voice your negative thoughts, which:

  • Gets you used to and comfortable with complaining, so you do more of it.
  • Gets your brain synapses and neurons to strengthen the connections in your brain that are tied to negativity and complaining.

Happy people don't complain almost at all. Even if there are things they can complain about (and there always are), they are aware that complaining brings nothing good, so they just don't do it - instead, they think positively.

2. They don't give up when things get tough.

If you give up when things get tough you either:

  • Didn't really want to accomplish what you started.
  • Are afraid of failure.

Don't give up when things get tough. This way, you strip yourself of the opportunity to learn and grow. Learning and growing only happens when things are tough and when you are out of your comfort zone.

3. They don't feel sorry for themselves.

Feeling sorry for yourself is almost the same as complaining: It only makes you used and comfortable with the feeling. Which means that in the future you will likely feel even more sorry for yourself and create a vicious circle in which feeling sorry for yourself feels kind of good and comfortable, so you do more of it.

Try and force yourself out of feeling sorry for yourself if you want to truly be happy and unburdened.

4. They don't let negative people affect them.

Negative people are all around us. **If it was up to these nay-sayers to run the world, no progress would ever be made

.**

Negative people think that if they can't do something, no one can. When they speak negatively about something you are doing, just ignore them and continue on your path.

5. They don't put others down to make themselves feel better.

There are two ways to be at the top: Either make the tallest tower, or knock down all the towers that are taller than yours.

The truly happy people don't put others down to make themselves feel better. Instead, they focus on improving themselves so that they are better in what matters to them than the best people on earth.

6. They don't try to please everyone, they are who they are.

No matter who you are and what you are doing, there will always be people who don't like it and are negative towards you and your actions.

This is both normal and good. It is good because our world thrives on variety. There are so many of us with different sensibilities, tastes and desires, that the only way not to have someone dislike you is not to do anything at all (and even then it is unlikely you would succeed).

Understand this facts and just don't let negative people affect you. Listen to them, but always be aware that you are the only one who is living your life, so live it by your rules, not theirs.

7. They are grateful for what they have in their life.

Being grateful is probably the number one way to become happy.

This is because: + When you are grateful for what you've accomplished and where you are in your life right now, you don't care about what you don't have. You'll get there, maybe, but you know that you are also happy being where you are right now. + When you are grateful, you know that you will be happy even if you fail.

So, practice being grateful and you will certainly be more content and feel happier.
