7 Things You Already Learned in Life (but may have forgotten about)

No one has the same life as you. But, there are some truths that apply to all of our lives that we are aware of, but rarely give much thought to. Some of them may seem like they are 'bad' on the surface, but when we dig a little deeper and think about them more, we realize that they are actually great for our future development.

Here are the 7 Things You Already Learned in Life (but may have forgotten about).

1. Not everyone will treat you the way you deserve to be treated.

In truth, most people won't treat you how you deserve to be treated. But this is a good thing.

It helps you learn, adapt and grow. Either you realize that there are people skills you lack, and you go learn them, or you figure out that you don't care about what people think of you and life your life free from the burden of having to please somebody else.

2. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.

Bad things happen to us all. Though I'd argue this is also a good thing.

It's good that bad things sometimes happen to us, because if only good things would magically start happening to us, there would be no motive for us to change ourselves and grow as human beings. Everything would stagnate and there would be no progress.

3. There's no point in stressing about the past or worrying about the future.

We cannot change the past, and no matter how much we believe otherwise, we cannot predict the future.

So stop stressing! Think about what you can do right now, which habits you can incorporate into your life, that will help you make a better tomorrow.

Note that this is different from stressing about the future, as you are in fact implementing the habits now, you are investing in yourself now, today, to become better tomorrow.

4. Good friends will get you through the tough times.

So chose your friends wisely

. The people that are closest to you make you who you are.

Choose great friends and let them into your life. Drop the ones that aren't a good match for your values, even if you have a long history with them.

5. Every challenge you have ever faced you have overcome, and there's no reason to believe you won't again.

We have all overcome all of the challenges we've faced so far. And there's nothing to suggest we won't do so for the challenges lying ahead.

Challenges are often difficult to overcome, but that is why they are worth overcoming. In the process of overcoming our problems, we grow and become better.

6. You have a hell of a lot to be grateful for in life.

If you can read this, you are better off than most people. Even if you see people who are better off than you are all the time, you have a lot to be grateful for.

Especially once you realize that the quality of life is not determined by what you own, but by the experiences you can afford for yourself. When you look back in life, the memories you made are what you are fond of, and not the purchases you made.

7. Believing in yourself is a key to a better life.

Being confident means that you allow yourself to go after what you desire.

  • You are able to ask for a raise at work.
  • You are able to ask that beautiful woman out.
  • You are able to invest your time in the cause you believe in.

You can do anything if you believe in your ability to learn and grow enough to take on any challenge. If you don't, chances are you will never even try to achieve your dreams, and will thus stagnate and remain in the same place you are at right now.
