8 Ways to Achieve More In Months Than You Would In Years

Have you ever wondered how some people manage to achieve more in months than you would normally be able to achieve in years?

It's no secret that mastering the art of effective goal setting is crucial to achieving what you set out to do, but simply being aware of your goals is nowhere near enough to actually being able to achieve them!

Simply thinking about what you want and hoping for the best will not magically result in all the necessary changes needed to get what you want.

How many of your goals you achieve largely depends on how well you set them in the first place. People who set goals effectively and constantly give themselves the support they need to carry out their plans tend to achieve more in shorter periods of time.

Tips For Successfully Setting And Achieving Your Goals.

The list below is designed to help you reflect on your goals and ultimately to help you achieve them significantly faster!

1. Be clear and specific about what you want.

Whenever you're setting a goal, be sure to go through the checklist below to ensure that it's as specific and clear as possible:

  • What's your deadline?
  • What criteria will you use to measure your goal?
  • Does the goal have any prerequisites?
  • What resources do you have/need?
  • What obstacles do you expect and how will you overcome them?
  • What steps do you need to carry out?

2. Plan strategically.

Every goal can be broken up into numerous smaller goals or steps. Once you determine the necessary steps, think strategically about how and when you carry them out.

When scheduling them into your calendar, remember to allow for some flexibility (it's generally advisable to only plan for about 75% of your time) and consider your daily routines and typical energy levels throughout the day.

3. Take action.

If we make plans that we don't stick to, we leave ourselves vulnerable to procrastination.

Homeostasis (the natural instinct to avoid change) is a common challenge that needs to be overcome.

Instead of succumbing to procrastination, meet every challenge head on; the best way to do this is to plan ahead, this way, you're likely to have an action plan ready for numerous eventualities and you will be able to act on them as soon as they occur

4. Keep yourself motivated.

When we're exhausted it's easy to lose sight of what exactly we're working for – this can be incredibly discouraging and often results in us taking a back seat to our lives.

Looking over and reaffirming your goals will give you a daily energy boost; if your goals are worth it, thinking about them will give you both the mental and physical power to achieve them!

5. Stay focused.

What you choose to focus on has a direct impact on what you achieve.

Your mind is a powerful tool, so choose to focus it on what you want to get done instead of allowing it to dwell on your fears and anxieties.

Try to understand the root of your emotions in order to handle them effectively before they end up consuming your every thought.

6. Overcome your fear of commitment.

When it comes to goals, commitment is key.

You can only maintain the necessary perseverance to achieve your goals if you are fully committed to them.

The fear of commitment often arises from anxieties about failure, so when you're having a particularly difficult day, think about all the people who chose to give up just before they were finally able to achieve their goals – don't let this be you!

7. Maintain a positive mindset.

Have you ever met a successful person who was negative and never believed in themselves?

Chances are, you probably haven't.

How you choose to think about yourself in relation to your goals and the world around you has a huge impact on your achievements.

Believe in your ability to achieve your aims and act accordingly!

8. Enjoy the journey.

While your plans will be centred around your goals, the journey towards them is just as important.

If you don't think about your well-being (physical and emotional) during the journey, you may either find the destination to not be all that it was cracked up to be or simply find yourself unable to enjoy it (due to the impact of stress on your health, etc.)!

Try to enjoy the journey by finding things to be grateful for in the present and by not solely living in the future!

If you really want to achieve your goals, giving up is not an option.

Perhaps things are moving slower than you would like them to at the moment, but guess what? You have the power to speed things up!

Finding the right methodology to setting goals and working towards them is always worth it in the long run - it can actually help you achieve your dreams a lot sooner than you may think, so what are you waiting for?!
