We hear it over and over again. Just be grateful. Easier said than done.

Sometimes it’s just so hard to feel any sort of gratitude when you’ve had the worst day ever. One rotten thing after another seem to end up on your doorstep. How on earth are you supposed to be grateful when you just found out your company is laying off and you’re on the chopping block?

What’s to be grateful for when your heating bill comes in and it’s more than you anticipated? It feels like there are more reasons to be sad and miserable then there are to be grateful.

You already know feeling and showing gratitude sends a loud and clear signal to the Universe to bring more things into your life to be grateful for. 1. You woke up today, didn’t you?

Why yes, yes you did. You got another day of life. You have another day filled with possibilities for more really cool things to happen for you today.

When you wake up in the morning, the very first thing you should do, before your feet hit the floor, is place your hand on your heart and say thank you. Thank you for another day.

2. You can’t be grateful and depressed at the same time.

Seriously, you can’t. If you are sad about something, take two minutes to stop and think about something that makes you feel grateful. Your clothes, the device you are reading this article on, your eyes. Just find one thing right now. Be grateful and feel the joy come over you. That’s way better than gloominess. Thank you.

3. And speaking of your device.

Whatever you are reading this on, iPad, iPhone, computer, whatever it is, you have one and it enables you to connect to the world around you

. How amazing is that?

But wait, it’s not just your device but the fact that you are also connected to Wi-Fi somewhere too, either free or paid. Does it get any better than that? Thank you.

4. Come to your senses, please!

We have 5 of them. See, hear, taste, touch, and smell. I know you aren’t missing all of them because you are reading this and if you can’t read this and someone is reading this to you then you can hear. You may not be fortunate enough to have all of them but you can be grateful for the ones you do have. If you do have all your senses then hooray for you! Thank you.

5. Who loves you, baby?

I have no idea but I’m pretty sure someone somewhere loves you. There is someone in this world who adores you, admires you and smiles when they think of you. Oh yes, there sure is. You may not even know who it is. It could very well be a secret admirer. Take that in for one minute. Someone loves you. Thank you.

6. I feel good!

Healthier, happier, more energy, less trips to the doctors, better sleep, higher metabolism, and the list goes on and on. Research shows that people who tend to feel and show more gratitude experience all those good things and then some. When we are grateful we naturally just feel better and healthier. Thank you.

7. Good things come to those who are already grateful for the good things they have.

If there is one sure fire way to attract more good stuff in your life, it’s to be grateful for all the things you already have. You want a better job? Be grateful for the one you have. You want a nicer car? Take care of the one you have now and be grateful for it all the time.

You can’t spend your days complaining about the things you have and then expect better things to come to you. The Universe doesn’t work that way. It hears you. Remember that. That car, that job, that apartment? Thank you.

8. More people will like you which, in turn, increases your self-esteem.

When people see that you have an attitude of gratitude they will gravitate to you more and have more respect for you. It might also inspire them to be more grateful too because they see how happy you are. You get to change people for the better. Thank you.
