8 Ways to Build Your Confidence

Like anything you build, creating confidence within yourself is something that takes time and a variety of materials. You may not see results over night, but if persist you can build your confidence and boost your self esteem, and you’ll see some progress towards feeling better about yourself in general. The following seven activities and approaches to confidence will help you begin to build a platform for confidence that will transform the way you perceive yourself and the world around you.

1. Let Go of the Idea of Flaws.

As long as you are not hurting anyone in the process, who is to say there is such thing as a flaw? These are just small quirks that make life more interesting and diverse! Learn to love every “flaw” of yourself, so that you can embrace the essence of what makes you, you. Instead of flaws even figure out a way to spin them as a positive trait. For example, if you are shy, just view it as it takes a while for people to earn the right to get within your comfort zone. Time to let go of your inhibitions and just be you.

2. Use Positive Affirmations to Celebrate Your Identity.

Positive affirmations help nurture favorable views of life. It is important to establish some of the views about ourselves. Create a positive affirmation that constantly reminds you about how much you rock.

6. Talk Yourself into a Positive Performance.

A positive attitude and self belief is half the battle. When you are about to do something you are nervous about, begin telling or thinking to yourself how well you are going to do. By the time you get to take on the event, you’ll be ready to own it.

7. Move with Confidence.

Walking, standing, running, dancing or whatever movement you are making, do it with confidence. When the brain tells the body there is a reason to be nervous, the body gets hunched up, and it further stresses it out. This cycle works both ways though! If one carries themselves as if they were absolutely confident, the brain will begin to feel confident and happy due to the signals the body is sending to the brain.

8. Do Small Things That You Fear.

Every time we get past a small fear in our lives, we become more confident and self assured. Try and make it a habit to conquer the smaller fears you have in life. Pretty soon you will start to tackle the bigger fears you have.
